Leighton was my favorite character, so to say I miss her is an understatement. Thankfully, the show accounted for her loss by introducing viewers to some new cast members and giving minor ones more prominent roles. It’s a move that’s certainly worked for me as I’ve come to love Lila (Ilia Isorely), one of the supporting characters who has been around since Season 1.

Lila started out the show as Kimberly’s (Pauline Chalamet) coworker/manager over at Sips, the college’s coffee shop. In the first season, she’s a bit of a confidant for Kimberly, who has the hardest time adjusting to college life. Little by little, Kimberly started introducing Lila to her roommates, and they all began to support and encourage one another. Her character began to get more fleshed out in the second season. Now that there’s more time to spare with Leighton leaving Essex for a spot at MIT, fans have gotten to know Lila even better.

One of the reasons Lila is my favorite is because she hardly has any drama going on. While the other girls are busy juggling college and their sex lives — as aptly suggested by the show’s title – Lila is busy making the most of her time in Essex. She doesn’t get overly stressed out as Kimberly and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) do, and she rarely finds herself in deep trouble like Bela (Amrit Kaur) always does. Instead, her plots often add some hilarious antics to an otherwise dramatic episode.

It also started with the second episode of Season 3 where she hosted her own fashion show for the line of men’s underwear she created. Of course, she didn’t tell anyone that’s what the fashion show was for, which made for some hilarious reactions from the girls. Her shenanigans have only gotten more entertaining as she waged war against the school’s delivery robots, which she fears will replace their jobs and steal their tips.

However, it was Season 3’s Halloween episode that truly cemented her as my favorite character. While Bela was dealing with FAF troubles, Kimberly struggled to fit into her new law symposium, and Whitney attempted to be friends with Canaan again, Lila had a mission of her own: finding the cute delivery person whose name she didn’t get last time.

Of course, this is easier said than done, and she spent the entire episode ordering random supplies for Sips in the hopes of getting the right delivery person, only to keep getting the wrong one. In the end, she does find the man she was looking for but the hurdles she had to endure to get there are great.

While I think I’ll always miss Leighton, it’s nice to have another fun character to root for, especially as things seem to be getting bleaker and bleaker for the rest of the cast. When asked how he would respond to critics suggesting he held back or even threw the fight, the Hall-of-Famer offered a surprising and candid admission:

Tyson’s honesty is refreshing, but comedian Katt Williams might have nailed the best take on the fight. Why did Mike step into the ring? Well, 20 million reasons make a pretty convincing case. Not too bad for “throwing 18 punches,” right?

Meanwhile, Jake Paul seems determined to solidify his place in professional boxing, with his sights reportedly set on Canelo Alvarez. However, his victory over “The Baddest Man on the Planet” might not have done him any favors in that department. Even Roy Jones Jr. commented during the bout that Paul didn’t exactly look like he belonged in the ring.

For fans of combat sports, Mike Tyson’s transparency is a powerful reminder of the emotional weight carried by even the greatest athletes, whether they win or lose. Who knows? Maybe the 2025 TV schedule will bring the pugilistic powerhouse another moment in the spotlight—one that could lift his spirits and put more change in his pockets.

What Did The Boys’ Eric Kripke Say About Why Shows Like Supernatural Are Valuable?

Eric Kripke is pretty much a genre hero, having spent most of his career bringing tales of superheroes, time travelers, and things that go bump in the night to life for millions of fans to enjoy. Though he also delivered cult favorites like the NBC shows Timeless and Revolution, before setting streaming on fire with The Boys and its very NSFW language, violence and flaming penis scenes, the claim to fame he really made his name on is The CW’s hit Supernatural, which ran for 15 seasons. When The Hollywood Reporter asked whether or not genre shows were “easier to make work” several years ago, Kripke said:

Streaming shows used to seem to be in the enviable (compared with their broadcast and cable brethren) position of being able to not garner any significant buzz and stick around for several seasons. However, our post-pandemic times have really changed that, with streaming series that have strong (but not technically large) fanbases being canceled more and more and fans definitely getting mad about it.

Along with it appearing that beloved shows don’t get the time they need to grow or even find a relatively quick way to finish up their stories for the viewers they do have, Kripke believes that all streaming shows that don’t hit the bar of looking/feeling like “feature film quality” (particularly if they’re among the genre set) are going to be ignored. This means that streamers are, all around, getting more selective so they can spend big bucks on a few genre shows as opposed to spreading that good will around as much as in the past.

Kripke (who previously revealed that he lives “in absolute terror” as he continues to expand The Boys on-screen universe) did admit that he much more enjoys working on shows that have a good deal of cash thrown at them, but he does also think that lower-budget series like Supernatural are also worth the time and effort to produce. He said:

His point of view here actually makes a lot of sense. If you, as a showrunner and/or producer, can do a lot with a little, then when you’re given the opportunity to do a lot with A LOT, you should be even more ready to make that happen, and within the time and financial confines that have already been set. I have no doubt that Kripke will continue to do that as The Boys enters its fifth and final season.

The sequel isn't theoretical or something fans need to launch internet campaigns for if they ever want to see it. Not only was The Old Guard 2 given the green light in early 2021, but Victoria Mahoney was hired to direct the feature a few months later, and principal photography began in the summer of 2022. There have been reports about reshoots, but Netflix has not yet provided an update regarding their plans for releasing the film.

Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Vân Veronica Ngô, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all reprising their roles for The Old Guard 2, and it has been reported that new additions to the cast include Uma Thurman and Henry Golding.

While that movie is hanging in limbo, Charlize Theron's upcoming slate of projects includes a very different kind of film in Apex, which will see the Oscar-winning actor playing a protagonist in harrowing circumstances. Per The Hollywood Reporter, she will be playing a "rock climber and adrenaline junkie" who goes out on an expedition and finds herself getting hunted by a psychopath. The antagonist in the movie will be played by Taron Egerton, who has had his own recent success with Netflix starring in the new throwback action movie Carry On.

The feature is based on a spec script by up-and-coming writer Jeremy Robbins, who previous credits include The Purge television series, and it will be Baltasar Kormákur's return to the action movies after making the 2024 Icelandic romantic drama Touch (his last contribution to the genre was the Idris Elba vs. a lion thriller Beast in 2022)

With Apex still being in pre-production here at the end of 2024, it may not end up with a spot on Netflix's 2025 movie and TV show release calendar, but fans can remain hopeful that The Old Guard 2 will end up with a release date during the calendar year. To be totally honest, the delays and reshoots don't suggest that the film is a masterpiece of action cinema... but there remains excitement to see the return of the movie's immortal heroes.

As someone who has been to LAX to travel on many occasions, it had me fooled that they shot on location (even though they apparently shot at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport). Of course I noticed a number of dumb problems with the plot that just didn’t seem realistic, but hey, I don’t need all my movies to be grounded… especially when they concern planes. I was curious how people who actually work at the airport and on planes thought of the film, and I was not disappointed thanks to one flight attendant’s reaction.

One of my colleagues at CinemaBlend shared the funny way Carry-On reminded her of Toy Story 2, and another gave some much-deserved praise to one of the action scenes, but I found my favorite reaction to the Netflix hit. Check it:

When a flight attendant and her colleague decided to watch Carry-On with their Netflix subscription and some cocktails, their viewing didn’t disappoint. Her fellow FA literally had to pause the movie at one point to share how inaccurate one scene at the end of the movie is. During Carry-On’s finale, Jason Bateman’s “Traveler” struts to the back of the plane without getting stopped by anyone before lifting a carpet and going into the cargo hold below the plane.

Per the actual FA, he spends most of his flights in the exact spot the Traveler secretly sneaks off to, and there’s no way he’d be able to get past him so easily. They also confirm there’s no cargo hatch in the back galley of a 737, as the movie presents. The comments section only makes this TikTok better. The TSA Has Also Shared Their Thoughts On The Accuracy Of Carry-On

Additionally, since much of Carry-On takes place at an airport security station, Jessica Mayle, a spokesperson for the TSA, told Newsweek that there are all sorts of inaccuracies with the Netflix movie, including TSA officers playing “Contraband Bingo,” or there being an option to opt out of scanner screenings. She said “all passengers must be screened” before going on a flight. She also said this about the movie’s situation:

While LEGO has collaborated with big IPs in the past, the space franchise has yet to do something with LEGO despite the litany of IPs the brick-building franchise has worked with. The rumor comes from YouTuber Max Baut and was translated to English thanks to Reddit. Here's what we know.

LEGO Is Rumored To Be Making A Set Tied To Star Trek: The Next Generation

It's alleged that Star Trek is finally getting a LEGO set thanks to the LEGO Icons series, which is often used to highlight iconic things from pop culture. As such, it's rumored a 3,600-piece set will be for sale that will highlight the Enterprise D, commonly associated with the classic series Star Trek: The Next Generation. What's more, the set is said to include figures of the entire bridge crew, including Wesley Crusher, Guinan, and Data's cat Spot. I should say that Tasha Yar is not included, as this set was modeled after she was killed off.

For reference, the iconic Millennium Falcon LEGO set from Star Wars is 5,197 pieces. That's to say, it's looking like this will be a pretty large set, assuming the rumor is accurate. I have no idea what the price will be for it, though I could imagine it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for it to be at least a few hundred dollars, if not more. If only we all had Star Trek replicators to just make the pieces ourselves! Unfortunately we haven't discovered that technology yet. If this set releases, it's believed to be scheduled for November 2025.

Could This Be The Start Of A Beautiful Collaboration?

While there's a part of me that is excited to (hopefully) recreate the most WTF moments of Star Trek: The Next Generation with my LEGO set in the new year, I can't also help but be skeptical. As previously mentioned, these two have never collaborated in the past, and the fact that the figures included feature every character I'd want and then some all feels too good to be true.

If it does turn out to be true, however, there are so many other Star Trek shows available with a Paramount+ subscription that we need LEGO sets for. As cast members like Kate Mulgrew talk about returning in live-action, I wouldn't be surprised if there are requests for a Voyager set. I also know many people would love to see a Deep Space Nine station set, though I can't imagine what kind of headache it would be to build that without it breaking apart every so often.

We'll have to wait and see if LEGO confirms a Star Trek set is on the way in 2025, and enjoy a new movie and a new season of Strange New Worlds in the meantime. As the new fan-favorite show since The Next Generation, I'd hope it would be next in line for a LEGO set if this rumor pans out.

Jay-Z has denied any wrongdoing, however this hasn’t stopped social media from reacting strongly to the allegations. A rocky personal life can overshadow major achievements, especially with such extensive media coverage around Affleck and Lopez’s breakup. But it seems like the Hustlers star is determined to focus on the positives and the wonderful things she accomplished throughout the year. Hopefully 2025 offers new open doors for both Affleck and Lopez as they enter the year as single people. Lopez has never given up on love, and maybe she’ll find it once again in the new year.

TikToker Sloan Hooks went viral recently after making a video alleging that the Biebers did not spend the holidays together. Bieber's message does not confirm or deny any rumors about trouble in her relationship with her husband, but seems to be telling the internet they're reading too far into things. Hailey Bieber did not post any other context or officially address the speculation, so I assume that's all she has to say.

Based on the 2024 headlines about the couple, I think Justin Bieber and his wife have had a good year. The couple announced her pregnancy with an artsy video in May, and there were already reports about the singer being a great dad after their son, Jack Blues, was born in August.

At the same time, it seems like Justin Bieber has struggled since the arrest of his former friend Sean Combs. The pop star wrote a message not long ago about faith, and maybe that message was meant to speak to all the issues in his life at the moment and not just limited to what's happening with Diddy. Could he also be making a vague statement about his marriage?

Everything is possible in the realm of speculation, but if Hailey Bieber openly tells people they're "not well," I think it's worth considering the rumors and speculation are largely overblown. For example, there's a scenario where this vacation she allegedly took was planned for months, and the shady lyrics posted by Bieber were just entirely unrelated. It's also possible the rumors are right on the money, and the former Baldwin is just posting a message in hopes people don't dig any deeper into the situation.

We can only wait and see as we head into 2025 alongside the Biebers and watch for any headlines they may make in the new year. The intended goal of the Rings of Power/Legend of Vox Machina post presumably wasn't to start fans arguing over whether the Lord of the Rings series or Critical Role's deadly animated show is superior, but many of the comments quickly pitted Pike against Galadriel. Still, there were plenty of My Lady Jane fans chiming in, many simply posting "#savemyladyjane." Some went above and beyond, though:

The mention of "over 105k people" refers to the fan petition for Amazon Prime to renew My Lady Jane for a second season, which began heating up in late August and hit nearly 109k signatures by the end of 2024. It's presumably also safe to say that plenty of people would like to see Jane and Guildford back without even knowing about the petition. Fans were livid over the summer, and more than one writer here at CinemaBlend was certainly bummed by the news.

A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin considers himself a fan of My Lady Jane as well, although I highly doubt that he's behind any of the social media commenters calling for the renewal. Another comment on the Instagram post, from user hannah_c2001, called out Prime Video for more heavily promoting Rings of Power with its existing Lord of the Rings fanbase, and wrote:

The same Rings of Power/Legend of Vox Machina graphic was also posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) without attracting many My Lady Jane fans, although one person countered the caption of "Their power" in reference to Galadriel and Pike with "Their power" attached to a gif of Jane and Guildford... along with #SaveMyLadyJane for good measure.

It's worth noting, to credit the fandom, that the effort to get My Lady Jane renewed isn't scattered or limited to the comment section of Prime Video posts. The @SaveMyLadyJane account on Instagram has more than 4.6k followers at the time of writing and is promoting an event to start 2025 with a strong push:

So, will My Lady Jane become the next Prime Video fantasy show to get a shot at more than one season, just like Rings of Power, The Legend of Vox Machina, and The Wheel of Time? Or will the cancellation stand, with no hope of Jane and Guildford returning in the 2025 TV schedule and beyond? Only time will tell, but either way I have to give kudos to the fans who haven't given up hope just yet. For now, any and all can always find the full first season streaming on Prime Video.

Soon after the 2024 TV schedule started up, I felt fairly confident that Fox’s Rob Lowe-hosted The Floor would go on to become not just a great new show, but my favorite new game show of the year. That assumption held pretty strong for many months, even topping Patton Oswalt’s brilliant The 1% Club, but fell apart once the Colin Jost-fronted Pop Culture Jeopardy! became available to stream with an Amazon Prime subscription. It’s pretty much game show ecstasy.

But for all that I absolutely adore having all the categories fully fixated on cinema, television, books, music and celebrities, the episodes available so far wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable without Jost’s low-key comedy as the spinoff’s other most distinct difference from the flagship favorite. Sure, three-member teams are also different, but not in a way that truly changes my viewing experience. I definitely think Ken Jennings is in his groove on the main show, and that those replacement rumors are garbage, but am still loving

Each episode I watch makes me wish Jost hosted and starred in tons of other projects, which inevitably sparks the inspiration to sit back and watch “Weekend Update” segments on repeat. Now to expand on what’s so enjoyable…

Colin Jost's Laid-Back Approach Perfectly Complements The Less Intense Format

Alex Trebek earned the love and respect of Jeopardy! fans for being a stoic and hard-to-shake pillar of a game show host, though he was certainly a bit looser in his younger days. In contrast, Ken Jennings is more conversational and quippy with contestants, but with jokes and comments usually still in line with Jeopardy! norms. (Save for rare occasions where he reflects on arguably problematic clues, for instance.)

But Colin Jost is on a different level still, though he obviously veers closer to Jennings than Trebek, in that he doesn't appear to hold back anything by way of remarking on and responding to contestants' correct answers, their wrong answers, or even just his own specific take on the topic at hand. A tiny percentage of it feels semi-forced in the way that scripted hosting can be, but Jost manages to make nearly everything feel spontaneous, even if he maintains his signature laidback vibes throughout.

He Gets To Make Dumb, Weird, And Slightly Risqué Jokes

To be sure, I'd fully enjoy Colin Jost's hosting even if he didn't have any comedic genius within him, but his wry approach and gameness to try out seemingly any kind of joke on Jeopardy! viewers is pure joy to me. To be sure, I can easily see how his random asides and general silliness could rub some viewers the wrong way, especially when it comes to the U.S.' most prestigious quiz game.

But I think Pop Culture Jeopardy! makes it clear it even though the stakes involved are just as high as they are on the mothership show, everyone involved can have a little more fun making it all happen. Part of that is due to a lack of super-strict time restraints that limits the broadcast TV runtimes, which makes it more obvious where editors have clipped moments out. Despite now running ads with most programming, Prime Video doesn't adhere to 30-minute time slots, so Jost is far freer to be as weird and PG-13 as he wants.

Speaking of the humor, another big specific plus of having Colin Jost as the host is that every few episodes, the show's writers manage to work in Scarlett Johannson-related clues that both surprise and amuse him while reading. It goes slightly smoother on the game show than it does when jokes about his superstar wife make their way into his "Weekend Update" reads.

Every Episode Makes Me Want To Rewatch 'Weekend Update' Segments Online

Watching new Pop Culture Jeopardy! episodes when they drop makes me wish that Colin Jost was just available on demand as himself, but since that would be intrusive and more than a little disturbing, there's only one other mainstream option to rely on for a weekly dose of offbeat hilarity. And that's of course Saturday Night Live''s much-beloved "Weekend Update" segments, which he co-anchors with Michael Che, whom Jost credits in a roundabout way with giving him the confidence to host the streaming game show.

So i'll definitely be waiting for the day when Che shows up either on the set or as a guest celeb in video clues, but until then will make do with streaming past "Weekend Update" videos with a Peacock subscription. Though I honestly don't know if any future installments will top this year's pre-Christmas Joke Swap, in which Michael Che set his co-anchor up with some hilariously harsh jokes about ScarJo, while Che himself had to voice some gross comments about Diddy and others.

Given it's a streaming show, there's no telling how well Pop Culture Jeopardy! is doing with audiences, how many people are watching, or what it's chances are of making it to Season 2. But I don't even need to see how the rest of the tournament goes to know I'd welcome Colin Jost back as host every week until they ran out of trivia questions.

Shrinking Season 3 is confirmed – and there’s plenty that we know already about it.

It feels like just yesterday Season 2 of Shrinking premiered as part of the 2024 TV schedule and already started to make us sob uncontrollably in the first episode. Now, the Shrinking Season 2 finale has come and gone – and some of us are still crying, this time at Harrison Ford’s speech in the finale.

Now, we know that Season 3 of the show is confirmed. But what is the next season going to be about? And what can we expect from it? Here is what we know so far about the next season of Shrinking.

When Is The Shrinking Season 3 Premiere Date?

At the time of writing this in December 2024, there is no set premiere date for Shrinking Season 3, which isn’t that surprising. The finale of Season 2 aired not that long ago, so it would be pretty surprising if we already had a premiere date for the new season.

However, we can at least theorize. Shrinking has been pretty consistent in its release schedule, with the first season coming out in 2023 and the second, obviously, coming out this year in 2024. So, with that track record, I’d say that the third season is expected to come out as part of the 2025 TV schedule.

Which, honestly, is a blessing in this day and age. There are so many fantastic streaming shows out there, but many of them tend to take years to produce seasons. Bridgerton Season 4 on Netflix will probably be released in 2026. Stranger Things Season 5 will be released next year after a three-year wait. Those are just two examples of shows that tend to wait forever.

Even so, Apple TV+ has always been pretty consistent with their productions, so I'm hoping it’s safe to expect Shrinking to return next year.

The Shrinking Season 3 Cast

In terms of who from the Shrinking cast is coming back, we don’t have anything confirmed yet, but there are plenty that we can expect to return, including:

• Jessica Williams as Gaby
• Luke Tennie as Sean
• Michael Urie as Brian
• Lukita Maxwell as Alice
• Christa Miller as Liz
• Harrison Ford as Dr. Paul Rhoades

It wouldn’t really be Shrinking without all of these characters coming back, and since Season 2 ended with all of them together, we can expect they’ll return for a third round.

Bill Lawrence Also Wants Louis To Return

Another character that became a big part of Season 2 of the show was Louie, the drunk driver who had killed Jimmy’s wife and Alice’s mom. Played by co-creator Brett Goldstein (who is also known from the Ted Lasso cast), we got to see into Louie’s mind and really get to know him – and ended up loving him way more.

Yes, Brett Goldstein’s character broke my heart, and I was very worried about him in the Shrinking finale, but he pulled through. And recently, in an interview with The L.A. Times in December 2024, co-creator Bill Lawrence said that they’d love to have Louie be a part of Season 3, and that he can’t see them moving forward without the character in the story:

I want to see way more of him too, so that works for me!

What Shrinking Season 3 Is About

While Shrinking Season 2 has come to an end, there are a few things that we know about the following season. Here is what you can expect:

Season 3 Will Be All About “Moving Forward”

Every season of Shrinking has had a theme, and thankfully, Jason Segel has given us an idea of what the next season will be about in an interview with Variety in December 2024 – “moving forward:”

Okay, so already I’m wondering how they’re going to move forward, and I have a feeling it’s going to hurt.

Sofi Could Come Back

For those who don’t remember, Sofi was a tiny little guest role that appeared in Season 2 of Shrinking, played by Cobie Smulders – who was actually a co-star of Segel’s in the How I Met Your Mother cast.

There are instant sparks between Sofi and Jimmy, in my opinion, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in December 2024, Lawrence responded that it’s “a good idea” to bring her back and that the intention is to bring Smulders back:

If Season 3 is all about moving forward, that means Sofi could be a big part of it; who knows?

Paul’s Disease Will Play A Much Bigger Role In Season 3

Something else that’s a big thing with Shrinking is that Paul’s Parkinson’s disease has gotten steadily worse, and right now the drugs are not working for him. In that interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence said that how Paul learns to deal with this is going to be a big part of his “moving forward” moment and how he’s learning how to accept help from others:

His disease has always been a big part of his storyline, so I’m curious to see how he reacts next.

Filming For Season 3 Is Expected To Begin In January 2024

The last thing we know is that filming for Season 3 is expected to begin sooner than you think. In an interview with Collider, Brett Goldstein said that he expects them to begin filming in “January 2025,” which is next month.

That means we’ll hopefully be getting more updates really soon, and that makes me even more excited.

Kourtney Kardashian And Travis Barker’s Blended Family Stuns In Black For The Holidays

Some families like a good plaid when they coordinate matching outfits around the holidays, or maybe some onesie pajamas. For Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, though, is there really any other option than black? The oldest of the reality TV siblings shared several photos to Instagram from what appeared to be a fairly cozy Christmas get-together, and her family looked stunning as they each embraced the color palette in their own way:

The Blink 182 drummer and his wife of over two years were joined by the three children Kourtney Kardashian shares with Scott Disick — Mason, Penelope and Reign — as well as Travis Barker’s son Landon, who he shares with Shanna Moakler, and Atiana De La Hoya, Moakler’s daughter with Oscar De La Hoya.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s son Rocky XIII also appears in the photo, but the parents have chosen to not show his face publicly yet. The group was also joined by family friend Carl Dawson (aka TikToker kingcarlx). I love how close this family is, and it’s too bad Barker’s daughter Alabama missed the photo op!

Kim Kardashian Appears To Wear Heels At Holiday Party After Breaking Her Foot

The vibes seemed to be good, as more photos from Kourtney Kardashian’s post showed Kendall Jenner laughing through some karaoke, Kris Jenner hanging out with her closest gals and Travis Barker showing baby Rocky some Christmas lights. Kim Kardashian was likely feeling those vibes, too, as she appeared in the fourth image of the post above to be wearing heels.

Assuming the American Horror Story actress isn’t pulling any of the PhotoShop magic she’s known for, she appeared to be barefoot in her own family Christmas photos on social media, and the Christmas Eve get-together is the first time I can recall seeing her in heels since she made several public appearances in a boot (including a week ago when she recreated the butt shelf photo that broke the Internet).

It’s possible she was able to ditch the boot and knee scooter for the sake of the holiday festivities, but hopefully Kourtney Kardashian’s pics are a sign that Kim is on the mend. While we wait for more sightings from the reality TV stars, keep an eye on the 2025 TV schedule for the return of The Kardashians, which can be streamed with a Hulu subscription.

January is a big month for streaming, and the big releases arrive almost immediately, with some of Netflix's big premieres making a huge wave in live television. Skeleton Crew, Episode 6 - December 31 (Disney+)

There are no bad weeks to have a Disney+ subscription these days, because every week brings a new episode of the youth-friendly adventure series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Following last week’s sudden but inevitable betrayal, fans have a lot of questions that will hopefully be answered when the new episode drops on New Year’s Eve, with plenty of time to enjoy it before the ball drops.

New Year’s Eve Broadcasts - December 31 (Paramount+, Max)

And speaking of It’s New Year’s Eve this week which means a global celebration as the new year arrives. Broadcasting the midnight celebration is always a big deal and this year you can watch some of the festivities streaming as well. New Year's Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, is one of the more popular shows of the year, and it can be streamed live with a Max subscription.

WWE Archive - January 1 (Netflix)

WWE made waves when it signed a deal to bring its flagship series, Raw, live to Netflix. While the first episode of the long running series won’t debut until next week, a collection of additional WWE archival material, including past episodes of Raw and other weekly shows and premium live events will drop on the platform on the first in order to get old fans, and maybe some new ones, up to speed before things really get rolling next Monday.

AEW - January 1 (Max)

Not to be outdone by WWE, the other major American wrestling promotion, AEW, will also be making the jump to streaming beginning in January. The promotion’s regular Wednesday night show AEW Dynamite will stream live with a Max subscription on January 1 and five classic events from 2019 will also be made available. AEW Collision will also begin weekly livestreams on Saturday January 4.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl - January 3 (Netflix)

The last time that a Wallace & Gromit movie came out in theaters, it won the Academy Award for best Animated Feature, so movie fans will want to take not of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. The new film debuts on Netflix this week but it already has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes so this is another great piece of stop motion animation that will be worth checking out.

Thw 2025 Golden Globes - January 5 (Paramount+)

Awards season gets underway this Sunday with this year's Golden Globes, which will be streamed live on Paramount+. Its ability to predict the Oscars is questionable at best, but it marks Hollywood’s first big night to celebrate everyone's favorite movies and TV series from the previous year.

If the first few days of 2025 are any indication of what the year has in store for us, it’s going to be a very good year indeed.

The Cunk character was an instant stand-out when she debuted in Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe a decade ago, and with various specials and series under her belt, it seems the faux-documentarian now delivers her magnum opus in this 70-minute special. Set to attempt to get to the bottom of why we’re all here, the mockumentary, co-written by Brooker, tackles some big concepts, including quantum physics, existentialism and hedonism. It’ll also look at those ground-breaking thinkers throughout history who’ve posed similar questions, such as Dostoyevsky, Van Gogh, Nietzsche and whoever came up with the "Live, Laugh, Love" slogan.

But don’t expect anything too academic here as, through Cunk, Morgan approaches all topics with an air of nonsense. It’s a pitch perfect satire of the self-seriousness delivered by so many science and history documentaries, particularly those put out by the BBC themselves. But the real genius move is the Nathan Fielder-like approach of confronting real people with the deadpan character. Countless academics are tortured by Cunk’s ridiculous responses, and the fun is trying to figure out when they twig.

In an in character interview, Cunk said of the new special: “What does it mean to be human? What is the Human Conditioner? Do they sell it at Superdrug? And would humans watch a TV show about all this stuff if we put it on between Christmas and New Year when everyone is bored out of their tiny minds, and just might watch a show that’s not about celebrities dancing, or how to make the perfect roast potato?” If you read that in Morgan’s classic deadpan delivery, then you already know what you’re in for, and if not but it raised a smile? You’ll be rolling on the floor by the end of the episode.

Potential spoilert alert for both The Testaments and The Handmaid's Tale.

The streaming wars have been going on for years, and are showing no signs of slowing down. Each service has its own set of megahits, and for those with a Hulu subscription one of those titles is definitely The Handmaid's Tale. The Emmy-winning dystopian series is wildly popular, and gearing up for its sixth and final season. A spinoff is expected to follow the final season, an adaptation of Margaret Atwood's novel The Testaments. But based on what we know about The Testaments so far, I'm worried The Handmaid's Tale series finale will be partly spoiled.

What we know about The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 is limited, but those who've read The Testaments might have some clues as to how things are going to end for June. The pressure is on to stick the landing, as well as plant narrative seeds for the forthcoming spinoff. And since I've read the sequel novel, I'm worried that the series finale will have less impact... especially if they're setting up the story I read.

When will The Testaments Premiere?

The news that The Handmaid's Tale's sixth season would be its last came with along with some good news: Hulu is planning on continuing the story with a TV version of The Testaments. The ending of The Handmaid's Tale Season 5 showed June and Serena Joy ending up together with their babies as they fled Toronto. And it should be fascinating to see if/how the story ends to set up the spinoff.

Of course, the biggest question is: exactly when will the upcoming series premiere? Unfortunately, there's currently no release date for The Testaments. While the project has been announced, it seemingly hasn't been officially ordered to series by Hulu. While this is likely just because The Handmaid's Tale is still running, that's the situation we're currently in. Hopefully an official green light happens sooner rather than later, as that'll likely be a relief to the hardcore fandom of the burgeoning franchise.

Who will star in The Testaments?

Information about The Testaments is limited, but the fandom is no doubt hoping that some of the beloved Handmaid's Tale cast ends up making the transition into the spinoff. One actor has already been confirmed for the developing follow-up series: Aunt Lydia actress Ann Dowd.

This won't be too surprising for those who read The Testaments, as Lydia is one of the book's three narrators. The novel offers an intimate look at her psyche and backstory (which differs from the one we were shown on The Handmaid's Tale). Fans will likely also be crossing their fingers to see Elisabeth Moss back as June, especially as she's also a director and executive producer on the acclaimed series. Unfortunately, one character that's almost definitely not returning is Emily, as Alexis Bledel left The Handmaid's Tale prior to Season 5.

How Does The Testaments Tease The Handmaid's Tale Ending?

Here is where we really get into some potential spoilers for The Handmaid's Tale's sixth and final season on the air. Because the mere plot of The Testaments offers hints at how the show might end up wrapping up... especially since the spinoff is in active development. Buckle up.

The Testaments is set 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale novel (which ends at around Season 1 of the TV series). Offred is no longer the narrator, instead the narrators consist of a remorseful Aunt Lydia, June's daughter Hannah/Agnes who grew up in Gilead, and an older version of Baby Nichole named Daisy, who doesn't realize that she played a role in the global Gilead conflict just by being born. These three stories start off separate, and end up connecting by the time the book's thrilling conclusion comes to pass.

If the TV version of The Testaments ends up being accurate to the novel, then we might be able to surmise a few things.

1) June and Luke potentially never get Hannah back from Gilead.

2) They eventually give up Nichole for her own safety.

3) Lydia will regret her cruelty and end up finding redemption.

And all three of these would seemingly need to happen before The Handmaid's Tale ends. But whether or not these are actually the plans remain to be seen. If they are, then unfortunately the hardcore fandom might already know how certain things end up.

Big Questions About Season 6 of The Handmaid's Tale We Still Don't Know

Of course, there are still a number of huge questions about The Handmaid's Tale that can't be surmised by what we know from The Testaments. So that should provide surprises for even the most hardcore fan of Margaret Atwood's dystopian franchise. And if the spinoff is going to go down differently than the book, then there's even more narrative possibilities for the series to play with.

For one thing, there's the ongoing plot in Toronto with Luke, Moira, and Rita.

When we last saw, anti-refugee sentiments up north were growing, and making things unsafe for those who escaped Gilead. Luke was arrested for accidentally killing the man who tried to assassinate June, so hopefully he doesn't get set back to Gilead as a result. Either way, things aren't looking good.

Another big question is what's going to happen to Serena Joy.

While she was an original architect of Gilead, she also faced the wrath of the fictional extremist country. She ended up in custody in Toronto, working with Mark Tuello up until she's released. But she ends up in danger at the Wheelers, and had to escape with baby Nichole on the same train June ends up on. These two women and their children are now together, and that relationship will presumably be a big one in Season 5.

What's the latest Testaments news?

Since the creatives behind The Handmaid's Tale are busy in the final months up until Season 5 arrives on Hulu, news about The Testaments is super limited. As previously mentioned, the spinoff was announced, but not officially ordered by the streaming service. So detail about its writing and eventual production are basically non-existent.

The most recent updates about The Testaments came from Deadline's interview with producer Warren Littlefield. He confirmed that the spinoff is "a priority project” and offered "we’re full speed ahead; it’s a really important franchise." So we should believe that, for the time being, the plans for the show are still going. But unfortunately we don't have much more information than that.

The 2024 TV schedule was filled to the brim with releases. From the release of Emily in Paris Season 4 to the long-awaited Bridgerton Season 3, there were so many great television series that returned and had us on the edge of our seats. And, of course, Only Murders in the Building was among those great ones.

The show, which has steadily returned each year with a new season to make us question who the murderer is this time, came back for its fourth round. And, of course, a Season 5 is already confirmed. But what do we know so far about this next installment of the popular franchise? Let's get into it...

What Is The Only Murders In The Building Season 5 Premiere Date?

At the time of writing this, there is no set premiere date for Only Murders in the Building Season 5, but we can undoubtedly theorize. Season 5 was confirmed by Deadline in September 2024, weeks before the fourth season even ended.

Only Murders in the Building is one of the rare colossal streaming shows that releases new episodes every year. While we're still waiting years for Stranger Things Season 5 or the upcoming Wednesday Season 2, the Hulu hit has consistently delivered a new season year after year. With that in mind, it's probably safe to expect it to premiere as part of the 2025 TV premiere schedule but we'll have to wait for official confirmation from Hulu.

The Only Murders In The Building Season 5 Cast

There hasn't been any official confirmation on who will return for Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building, but of course, I'm pretty sure we can expect Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez to return as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel. You can't really have this series without them. The Only Murders in the Building cast will hopefully always have those three.

Aside from that, we do know that at least one new character has joined the show, and that is Sofia Caccimelio – who will be played by Téa Leoni, according to Deadline. The character appeared in the final minutes of the Only Murders in the Building Season 4 finale, and is the wife of Nicky Caccimelio – otherwise known as "The Neck," and someone who has ties to the Caputo crime family.

It's always interesting to see what's going to come with new characters to this show – and a crime family is something that we haven't had the chance to explore as much, so I am here for it.

What Is Only Murders In The Building Season 5 About?

With another season confirmed, there are so many directions that Only Murders in the Building Season 5 could go – but we do know a couple of ways, thanks to some interviews:

Season 5 Will Follow The Murder Of Lester

As you can probably guess, Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building will focus on the murder of Lester, the doorman of the apartment building that they all live in, and how he ended up dead in that fountain at the very end of Season 4.

In an interview with Variety in October 2024, showrunner John Hoffman revealed that they were deep in the process of writing, and that because the victim was a doorman – something that's a big thing in New York City – this kind of death is going to be a lot different, and have a "level of respect" that others didn't:

Lester was almost more of a background character, but he had plenty of moments with our main trio and was a kind man, so I'm sure if anyone is going to get to the bottom of it, it's Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.

Sofia Caccimelio Will Play An Important Role In Season 5

As mentioned before, Téa Leoni has joined the cast in a significant way as Sofia Caccimelio, and we know that her character is going to play an important role in the upcoming season. In that same Deadline article that confirmed she was joining the cast, Hoffman confirmed that she'll be an "intriguing bump forward" for what is to come:

I'm eager to see what happens as this story unfolds.

Season 5 Will Feel Like Something "Ripped From The Headlines"

In an interview with Decider in October 2024, John Hoffman gave us an idea of what the tone will be for Season 5 – that it will feel like a story that many have seen before, mainly because it will feel as if it has been "ripped from the headlines" of a newspaper:

Season 5 Will Focus On Some Very "Relevant" Things Happening In New York Right Now

The last thing we know is that Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building is going to touch on some "relevant" things that are ongoing in New York even right now. In an interview with TheWrap in October 2024, Hoffman said that they are trying to tell a "particular kind of take" of New York and how the next season is very much the continuation of "classic meets modern:"

What are you the most excited about when it comes to Only Murders in the Building Season 5? All I know is that I'll be counting down the days until it gets here – and wondering who murdered that poor doorman, Lester. I suppose I can watch some of the other best original shows on Hulu while I wait.

Despite Kim Kardashian’s relationship with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and the guaranteed headlines to come from the family at the Met Gala each May, there always seems to be some reason for rumors to circulate about the reality stars being blacklisted. This year, Rihanna is that reason. The Unapologetic artist — who has been known to rock some wild costumes herself — is allegedly trying to get them banned. RadarOnline reports:

Would Rhianna really rob us of moments like that, Kim’s Marilyn Monroe dress debacle or the time she went full Batman? It’s hard to believe, but I can’t say the thought of the singer making such a petty move doesn’t make me smirk just a little.

A joint venture between S4C and UKTV, Mudtown follows Newport magistrate Claire Lewis, played by Gotham star Erin Richards, as she faces turmoil both in and out of the courtroom. How to watch Mudtown online in the UK for free

Mudtown / Ar y Ffin will air two different versions in the UK.

Ar y Ffin, shot in the Welsh language, will debut on Sunday, December 29 at 9pm GMT on S4C, with new episodes weekly. You'll also be able to stream live and on catch-up with English subtitles for free via BBC iPlayer.

Mudtown, the English language version is set to arrive in Spring 2025 and will go out on Alibi which can be accessed through Sky. Some Alibi content also streams for free on the U streaming service, but it's currently unconfirmed if Mudtown will land there.

These days Justin Bieber is most assuredly focusing his energy on being a great dad to his new son, Jack Blues, but unfortunately other issues have likely been competing for that attention. Along with celebrities including Jennifer Lopez and Kevin Hart, Bieber’s presence at P. Diddy’s famous parties has been re-examined since the rapper’s September arrest on sex trafficking and other charges, and months after.the “Baby” singer was reportedly struggling with Sean Combs’ legal troubles, he shared a strong message about his faith.

Diddy’s parties have always been infamous, but there’s been a renewed interest in the goings-on following multiple accusations of sexual assault during the so-called freak-offs, where people were allegedly plied with drugs and alcohol to participate in days-long sex parties. Justin Bieber was close with the record executive back then (his then-girlfriend Selena Gomez was even mistaken for a valet), and he was reportedly in a “hard place mentally” after the arrest. A recent post to his Instagram Stories seems to confirm that he’s been struggling in some aspect, but that his faith has gotten him through. Bieber posted:

There’s no indication of what exactly the “enemy” was trying to “destroy and steal” from Justin Bieber’s life, but it would be hard to believe the P. Diddy drama hasn’t been on his mind. Even Selena Gomez had a viral gaffe that appeared to be a Freudian slip amidst the brouhaha.

Videos of Diddy and the singer partying together when Justin Bieber was just 15 have resurfaced, with the rapper playfully saying that during their 48-hour hangout, “what we're doing we can't really disclose.” Could the renewed scrutiny regarding their friendship have been part of what caused the new dad to question if Jesus was with him?

Justin Bieber reportedly found the allegations against Sean Combs hard to process — a sentiment that even those of us who aren’t involved in the case shared when it was reported that over 1,000 bottles of lubricant had been confiscated from Diddy’s homes in federal raids. Many celebrities have been trying to distance themselves from the music mogul over the past few months, including Kevin Hart, who deflected questions about his own role in the parties.

It’s especially understandable that the Biebs might have trouble balancing his conflicting emotions, with the Diddy situation coming just weeks after Hailey Bieber gave birth to her and Justin’s first child. It also makes sense that he would turn to religion to help him in that area.

Justin Bieber has always been open about his faith and how it’s helped him through struggles, which in recent years have included being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare form of facial paralysis, and Hailey Bieber suffering a blood clot in her brain. Hopefully he has all the tools he needs to also fight whatever mental struggles he’s faced since Diddy’s arrest.

I am very astounded by how I've gotten here, but somehow, I have a new favorite character on Shrinking.

I’m assuming that if you’re here, you know what show I’m talking about, but if for some reason you don’t, I’m talking about one of the best Apple TV+ series, starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, about a therapist and how he deals with both his personal and professional life after losing his wife in a car accident.

The show has received plenty of praise during its two-season run – and there’s going to be a third coming as well. One of the best things about it is its characters and how it feels like you can always find one to relate to. But after watching all of Season 2, I’m shocked at who I have connected with the most.

Let Me Preface This By Saying That I Love Really All The Characters On This Show

I want to say that I genuinely love all the characters on this show.

And truthfully, that’s saying something. I’m the kind of person who, when there is an ensemble cast on a series, there are few where I can genuinely say I love every character on a show. I can’t say that about the Friends cast. I certainly can’t say that about the Game of Thrones cast, and I definitely cannot say that about The Walking Dead cast or any of those huge shows.

But I can say that for Shrinking, because there is just something about every single character that I can find solace and connection with.

Whether it’s my heart getting broken over Brett Goldstein’s character in the show, or my CinemaBlend co-worker Riley crying over Harrison Ford’s speech in the finale, there is literally something for everyone to love. There’s so much there to enjoy and laugh at, and I think that’s what makes Shrinking so great.

It doesn’t feel out of touch with reality because these characters feel like people you would run into in your daily life, which makes them even better. But there’s one character I’ve realized I’ve started to like more and more, especially in Season 2.

I’m Surprised I’ve Started To Love Brian Even More

I know; hear me out. I should have loved him from the beginning, but it takes time, guys.

The Shrinking cast is filled to the brim with so much talent that during Season 1, we really didn’t see much of Brian, played by Michael Urie. Sure, he was certainly there, and had some hilarious moments to boot that made him stand out – and obviously, there was his fantastic wedding at the end of Season 1 as well. There was nothing that really made him a favorite for me, though.

Then Season 2 came along, and we really got to see Brian more. He is a lawyer, so it makes sense that, as Jimmy’s clientele starts to need representation of some sort, Brian would be included way more in the storylines. And what a glorious treat that was.

We got to see his spirit, his jokes, his smile – so much more than we saw in Season 1. And better yet, he was a blessing in all this darkness.

He’s A Light In The Darkness That Tends To Come With This Show

Personally, Season 2 of Shrinking has felt a lot darker than the first season. Whether it’s going over what happened to Jimmy’s wife that led to that big coffee shop confrontation or that Paul’s disease has grown worse over time, things in this season were good and also not so good at many different points.

Then there was Brian, coming in like the wonderful man that he is with his sweet husband that gets him.

He’s sarcastic but hilarious, and he cares so much—but he’s not the best at showing it. That just makes him such a light in all of the darkness that has slowly seeped into this show in Season 2. It’s something I hope we see more of.

I’m Happy That I’ve Gotten To See His Past More And More

I’ve also really loved getting to know who he was before. Any chance I have to get into Jimmy's mind and his past with his wife is something I will take without argument. Adding Brian in there makes it all the better.

Not only that, but it adds so much more context to why Jimmy and Brian are friends and how close Brian was with Tia. It makes the moment that Jimmy and Brian have that fight in Episode 3 about not really knowing each other’s lives that much more meaningful because now, we see where that friendship began. That makes me like him even more.

And I’m Also Loving His Storyline Of Him And His Husband Regarding Kids

Something else that I really loved this time around in Season 2 was their bringing up the idea of kids, adoption, and so much more. Brian and his husband, Charlie, are looking to adopt in Season 2 of the series. But Brian is not so sure about it, mainly because he is not sure of himself as a father—so much so that he has a hilarious yet emotional conversation with Jimmy where he wants the therapist to “help me not be me.”

While Brian says it funnily, there’s some truth behind his words and deep-rooted fear that he doesn’t want to mess up not getting a child because of who he is. This just adds another dimension to him that I love – that underneath all the sarcasm and sass is someone who just wants to be good for others and for the people that he loves, and he doesn’t want to mess this up.

As someone who has felt those same feelings so many times in her life, I connect and respect that, and watching him get what he so rightly deserves by the end of Season 2 regarding children makes it all worthwhile.

I Hope We Get To See A Lot More Of Him In Season 3

I know that Season 3 of Shrinking is confirmed. What I don’t know is whether it will be the last season or not. Either way, I really hope I get to see Brian more.

I’ve been enjoying his storylines and connecting to him so much, and my only hope is that I pray he doesn't take a backseat now that he and his husband have gotten their baby.

I think deep down, a lot of us connect with Brian on a personal level – he’s just trying to do the right thing, even if it’s not necessarily what others think is the correct choice at the time (like speaking to Louis). He’s funny and sassy and insecure and scared – and that’s really just the blueprint for being a human.

Someone like that, whom we can all really connect with, doesn’t come along that often, and I hope we get to see a heck of a lot more of him really soon. I suppose until Season 3 comes out, I’ll just rewatch the first two seasons, but I’ve never been patient. Can 2025 get here already?

After Shrinking Season 2 wrapped up on the 2024 TV schedule, Bill Lawrence spoke about how his friendship with Fox has influenced how they show Parkinson’s on the Apple TV+ project with People. The creator explained that both he and his fellow co-creator Brett Goldstein have personal connections to their disease, because both their fathers had it. Lawrence is close to Michael J. Fox too, which also impacted the show, as he explained:

In Shrinking, Paul is a working therapist who is in the earlier days of his Parkinson’s diagnosis. In Season 1, he realizes he shouldn’t drive anymore and in Season 2 his shakes get worse and there’s a lot of talk about his medication and when he should take it. While what he’s going through is hard, it’s never sad or tragic. As Lawrence said, like the way Fox has handled Parkinson’s, Harrison Ford’s character’s strength and resilience as he works to figure out his new normal is "inspiring."

For a bit of context on why Lawrence has such a deep connection to Fox, the two collaborated on one of the best sitcoms, Spin City. As the actor revealed in his great documentary Still, he tried to hide his Parkinson’s while filming the first few seasons of that show. However, in 1998, the Back to the Future star publicly disclosed his diagnosis and continued to work on the comedy until it ended in 2002.

After that, Fox guest starred in Lawrence’s comedy Scrubs, and as the producer said, he’s always been inspired by his collaborator’s work. To that point, the Ted Lasso co-creator said:

You can feel that spirit in the show. Paul works so hard and he’s so emotionally vulnerable about what he’s going through – as proven in dividends by the tearjerking Season 2 speech Ford gave during the finale.

Lawrence went on to say that he takes inspiration from the people in his life all the time, and he credited the Family Ties star as the first collaborator he did that with.

As you likely know, Fox has become a leading voice in the fight against Parkinson’s, and his advocacy for it and research is more than admirable. Plus, his general optimism and drive to keep going, despite the challenges he’s faced, is extremely uplifting. Like Paul, people are inspired by him, and I 100% understand why Bill Lawrence is too.

Since Sean Combs’ arrest in September, the embattled rapper and businessman has been behind bars at Metropolitan Detention Center, which is located in Brooklyn. The 55-year-old is set to remain in jail while he awaits the beginning of his sex-trafficking trial in 2025. Per reports, Combs – a.k.a. P. Diddy – has been having a rough time amid his incarceration, and he allegedly just had a meltdown, of which there are supposed details. All the while, a prison expert discusses where Luigi Mangione will be held in that facility in proximity to Diddy.

What Supposedly Happened With Sean Combs’ Meltdown?

Days ago, a guard who works at the MDC, spoke out about what Diddy’s holiday in jail would look like. The person said that the “I'll Be Missing You” performer would have the chance to play recreational basketball and be served a dinner consisting of dishes like cornish hen, macaroni and cheese and more. Amid that, a source spoke to DailyMail and alleged that the stresses of being locked up truly began to weigh on the rapper amid the holidays. The insider specifically shared the following claims:

A source for the father of seven subsequently shot down the assertion above. Nevertheless, there’s been further evidence to suggest that the music mogul’s stay in jail hasn’t been easy on him. Months ago, one of his lawyers, Marc Agnifilo, stated that the “roughest part” of Mr. Combs’ prison stint was having to adjust to the food. During his stay, the Sean John founder has also been denied bail three times.

P. Diddy was arrested in connection with a federal investigation involving sex-trafficking. As a result, the entertainer’s homes were raided in March 2024, and he’s currently facing several charges, including alleged sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, arson, racketeering and more. Various lawsuits have also been filed against the Grammy winner, with many of the plaintiffs accusing him of sexual assault, violent acts and more. His case differs greatly from that of newly installed MDC resident Luigi Mangione.

How Close Will Luigi Mangione And Diddy’s Living Quarters Be In Prison?

26-year-old Luigi Mangione, who stands accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in broad daylight early in December, was recently extradited from Pennsylvania to New York. With that, he’s now currently staying at the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he and Sean Combs are living on “separate floors,” according to prison consultant Sam Mangel. That’ll apparently change, though, as Mangel also told Page Six that the two high-profile inmates “will be on the same floor together at some point.”

This shared place of residence isn’t the only link between the music industry veteran and the Ivy League-educated engineer. Another wild connection between the two cases comes in the form of legal representation. Mr. Mangione has enlisted the services of Karen Friedman Agnifilo – the wife of Diddy’s aforementioned attorney, Marc Agnifilo.

As far as court cases go, Sean Combs’ trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025. Luigi Mangione just recently appeared in court and pleaded not guilty after being charged with first-degree murder and other offenses. He’s next set to appear in court this coming February 21. As for whether Mangione and Combs might cross paths while they’re in jail, that’s hard to say.

As one of the best streaming services, Paramount+ has quite a lot to offer, between movies and shows that come from various studios and networks. That means those with a Paramount+ subscription can watch some of their favorite shows from the present and past from channels like CBS and Nickelodeon. However, unfortunately, the streamer has been removing loads of content, and my childhood is disappearing right before my eyes.

Deadline reports that Paramount+ is in the midst of another big content purge, and this time, Nickelodeon shows are getting the short end of the stick. Classic series like Doug, which was among one of the first-ever Nicktoons, and fan favorites like Big Time Rush have said a big-time goodbye to Paramount+ in December.

My Life As a Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and The Penguins of Madagascar have also suffered the same fate. As of now, it’s unknown where all these shows will be going next.

Additionally, Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Wonder Pets, ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, Fanboy & Chum Chum, Sanjay & Craig, and Welcome to the Wayne are among the other Nickelodeon titles being removed from Paramount+.

Having watched a lot of those shows, I can’t help but feel that part of my childhood is being taken away. And it makes me sad that I may never be able to watch a chunk of these shows again, especially since some Nickelodeon shows don't get talked about enough already.

According to a Paramount spokesperson, the purge is part of the company’s “normal process of removing and adding titles, which is done on a monthly and quarterly basis.” How they choose the titles and why is unknown, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this isn’t the last purge of nostalgic titles like the ones I mentioned.

This isn’t the first time Paramount+ has done massive content purges. In 2023, the streamer removed original titles, some of which were then-recently canceled. It also dropped a slew of movies. And in the cases of some of these projects, they didn't have a new home to go to, so they just disappeared. That being said, many streamers have also been doing their own content purges from time to time, meaning no show is safe, and it’s making me upset just thinking about it.

There is always the possibility that these Nickelodeon shows will make a return to Paramount+ in the future or be added to another platform, like Netflix. For now, though, those wanting to watch Doug, Big Time Rush, or My Life As a Teenage Robot, to name a few, will have to buy the shows on other digital platforms.

In an interview with TV Insider tied to his appearance in the Fox anthology series Accused, Jeong, who played Ben Chang for the entirety of Community’s run, said that the Community movie is still on the way rather than having been shelved, promising it’s “not a matter of if, it is a matter of when.” He continued:

This is arguably the biggest update the project has gotten since Community creator Dan Harmon stated in June he was doing a “final pass” on the script that he was writing with Andrew Guest. Half a year later, it appears as though said script is complete, because in addition to Ken Jeong confirming that it exists, he also had the following to say about what he felt when he read it:

Although no plot details have been revealed yet, it was officially announced right off the bat that Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie and Jim Rash will appear alongside Ken Jeong in the Community movie, and Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover were confirmed to also be returning shortly thereafter. McHale made it clear last year that Chevy Chase will not be back to reprise the late Pierce Hawthorne, though that shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the Saturday Night Live alum hasn’t been shy about saying how much he disliked working on Community.

Outside of just how great it’ll be seeing these characters reunite within the walls of Greendale Community College, I’m looking forward to seeing what specifically made Ken Jeong so emotional when he read the script, and I’m even more eager to learn what the Community movie will actually begin filming so we can get a better idea of when it will be released on Peacock. Speaking of which, all of Community, one of those sitcoms perfect for your next long-binge, can be found on that same streaming platform.

This holiday season, Netflix has another hit on their hands. Carry-On is the latest Christmas action film starring Taron Egerton, and it’s currently one of the top movies on the streamer. It follows a TSA agent who is being blackmailed by a passenger, played by Jason Bateman, trying to sneak a dangerous package on a plane. Due to its malleable plot and popularity, the movie feels perfectly positioned for a sequel. Now, the star of the film is sharing his thoughts regarding a follow up film.

In a recent interview with Today, the Rocketman actor broke down the end of Carry-On and what this could mean for any potential stories within the world. The end of the film is high energy, with a lot of tension surrounding what would happen once the mysterious package got onto an airplane. Egerton’s character is eventually able to gain the upper hand in the situation, and manages to kill Bateman’s character, who was trying to blow up the plane. The film offers a pretty definite ending, however fans still feel like there's room for more. Egerton revealed he’d be interested if the writers can find more story to tell. He said:

There is always an avenue for more story and more ideas. There were definite endings in action movies like Die Hard or Mission: Impossible, but writers always seem to come up with new situations that their hero can get themself into. It’s hard to imagine such an extreme set of circumstances could happen to an everyman like Egerton’s character once again, but anything is possible. Maybe Bateman’s character wasn’t working alone, and now there are more people after the TSA agent after their plan went awry. It feels like the door is definitely open.

A sequel could also be an opportunity to build upon the first film. Some viewers identified plot holes within Carry-On, so another movie could fix some of these mistakes. Bateman, who has been working with the streamer for a while now, is great in the Netflix film, but I’d also love to see other A-list leading men play a more villainous role in other installments. Carry-On is a solid action flick, so they are off to a great start, but there is always room for improvement.

It’s also great to hear Egerton would be in the game. His character is the beating heart of the film, bringing a down-to-earth, sensitive quality that you don’t always see in action movie protagonists. It separates Carry-On from other films, and the fact that he just has ordinary qualities makes him a more compelling central figure. Making the hero ordinary rather than superhuman also ups the stakes, and seeing this explored more deeply in other films also feels like a unique direction for a sequel.

In all, if Netflix wants another Carry-On and Taron Egerton is on board, I think it could totally happen. We’ll have to wait to see if this idea materializes, but in the meantime, you can check out Carry-On now with a Netflix subscription. The 2024 Netflix schedule has been packed to the brim with original films, many of which have been great, and others have been… eh. You could talk about the dominating Hot Frosty when it first came out or the incredible Anna Kendrick-directed Woman of the Hour, but either way, there are plenty of options to pick from – and now, Carry-On has joined that list.

The film follows a TSA agent who is forced to let a carry-on suitcase through that has a dangerous weapon in it. Of course, he makes it his mission to stop both the weapon and the terrorist. The film itself is a pretty typical action movie, but there was one scene in particular that really did blow me away—and today, we’re going to talk about it.

I Enjoyed The Movie Overall As An Action Film

So let me preface this by saying that I’m not even a big action film person. I can find joy in them, but I much prefer to dive into the worlds of the best fantasy films or maybe even a good A24 movie with twists and turns.

But I was home for the holidays, and my parents like action movies, so here we are.

And I have to say I did enjoy the film—for a typical action movie. It was a nice touch that it took place during the holidays (even though I wouldn’t consider it a Christmas movie). Taron Egerton was a great leading man, and Jason Bateman played his role well. The action sequences, in general, were a ton of fun.

Like some of my CinemaBlend co-workers, I couldn’t unsee the Toy Story 2 parallels, and I have to admit that some dumb issues with Carry-On certainly take you out of the immersion. Overall, the film is fun, and I can see why it’s popular. But there was one particular moment that truly took it to another level for me.

The Car Crash Scene Really Took The Cake For Me

I’m someone who loves a good car crash in movies. I think it adds so much suspense – that moment leading up to the crash before it suddenly hits you. Or maybe it’s a total jump scare that gets both the characters and the audience. Either way, it’s a great way to add a bit of stakes to the movie.

But the way they filmed the car crash in Carry-On was really impressive to me. I knew from the moment Elena Cole took out her gun that things were not going to be as smooth-riding as theyhad been up to that point. But then the scene actually happened, and I was blown away.

The scene went back and forth between the front of the car and the ongoing struggle between Cole and the imposter. We see cars avoid them, hear the honking of horns, and watch as the vehicle swerves back and forth again and again. Then, not that long after, the car suddenly tips, and we see them roll over and over several times until it’s just silent for a moment.

And then I just sat there, with my mouth hanging in surprise from how the whole thing was edited. It was really well-crafted and was one of the few moments of the film that got me sitting up straight in my seat.

Even When Cole Was Fighting For Her Life Against The Imposter, I Was On The Edge Of My Seat

After the car crashes, the fight between Cole and the imposter isn’t even done yet because he’s still alive, and he wants her dead.

Watching him reach over and slowly begin to choke her out, seeing her struggle for her life, made me bite my nails nervously because it was like I was just stuck here, unable to do anything. I wanted to scream at the television for her to struggle more, to get out – and then eventually, she’s able to pull her gun and shoot him.

The sigh of relief that escaped me was happy, but I was still so thrilled that a Netflix film such as this one delivered in a significant way with this scene.

I Think More Car Crash Scenes Need To Be Done Like This One

There are plenty of other movies out there that have car crashes or car scenes – I mean, there’s a whole Fast and Furious franchise based around them. But I think that the car crash scene in this should be a model for how other car crashes should be done when involving a big fight going forward.

It didn’t jump instantly to the crash; instead, it dragged it out and showed the ensuing accidents that were happening because of them and the damage they were causing, which prolonged the viewer's nervousness. When the crash occurs, it feels like a payoff for the amount of tension you just went through, and then the suspense keeps going with the imposter choking her until it's settled with that last gunshot.

I think car crashes like this one are really well done, and more movies need to take an example from this just to add that certain bit of magic to them. It would go a long way.

Now, I could check out the best action movies out there to see if other car crashes could blow me away. I think it’s time for a movie marathon.

Series creator Liz Feldman and Cardellini worked together on Dead to Me. The women must have established a successful working relationship because, Margo and Judy have been some of Cardellini’s best roles. They are also really different characters. Judy is sweet to the point of being somewhat naive, and Margo, well, she is someone not to trust.

Her complex nature makes her one of the best aspects of No Good Deed. In fact, she’s one of my favorite TV villains of 2024.

No Good Deed’s Margo Is Deliciously Wicked

Margo is villainous in a semi-cartoonish, soap opera way. She reminds me of the great soap opera divas who were always scheming, plotting, planning, and stealing someone’s husband or money — often both. Her soap opera-diva style makes none of her actions surprising, but they are fun. However, her being so devious in a comedy confirms (in my mind) that the No Good Deed writers are paying homage to the soap divas that we love.

Margo could easily battle some of the most wicked fictional villains. I don’t necessarily think she will outsmart them, because she’s far from the smartest TV villains, but I think she’s ambitious, resourceful, and scrappy enough to not give up or lose easily.

For most of No Good Deed, Margo is a very funny foe. It’s hard to take her seriously, which makes her an entertaining comedy villain. I want my comedy bad guys or bad gals to have the vibe of a cartoon villain whose plans are constantly foiled by the Power Puff Girls or Kim Possible. In most of Season 1, Margo is a silly villain but her villainy never feels so cartoonish that you don’t take her danger seriously. She’s always someone to fear.

Her Bad Deeds Become Worse As The Show Continues

By the end of No Good Deed, Margo transforms from a funny antagonist to a monster. She does some pretty heinous things, and her plotting and scheming turn into one intense reveal after another. She completely goes from an entertaining villain that I enjoyed to someone I couldn’t wait to see face the consequences of her actions.

I like that the series makes her increasingly more evil, because it becomes easier to root for her downfall. Even if you like or care about Margo, by the end of the season, you’re ready to watch her burn. I love it when a series can make me change my opinions on a character. It’s a sign of effective writing and an actor who knows how to add layers.

No Good Deed Excellently Captures The Idea Of An Irredeemable Villain

Too many TV shows have redemption arcs. They try to make a morally questionable or despicable character likable by having them redeem themselves through their actions later in the season or in future seasons. Sometimes I am all for that, but sometimes I think it’s fine to just let a baddie remain one.

It creates a more fun show and displays realistic behavior. Sometimes people are the worst and they don’t suddenly change their ways for love or discovery or finding understanding and support. Sometimes an evil person is just an evil person. And, just because a character becomes a fan favorite doesn’t mean the writers need to cater to those fans by redeeming the character to keep them around longer.

Based on how No Good Deed ended, it seemed like a single-season series, therefore, I don’t expect to see Margo again. However, if the show returns, I hope the writers don’t bring her back and make her suddenly an upstanding citizen. One thing Dead to Me did really well was that it didn’t redeem a villainous character, but instead, found an inventive way to keep the actor around. This series could easily find new ways to keep Linda Cardellini on the show, but remove Margo from future stories.

Margo And Mikey Both Start No Good Deed Villainously, Which Makes Them Interesting To Compare

Originally, Mikey (Denis Leary) is the villain, but then the show peels back some of his layers. He becomes much more complicated than just evil. Mikey has a redemption arc, and he deserves one. None of his actions compare to anything Margo does in the series.

I appreciate the writers for giving us two villain characters and then showing how one changes for the better and the other gets no forgiveness. Mikey becomes more interesting because he’s allowed the opportunity to change, and Margo is more interesting because she isn’t. Their outcomes and how they're treated work for each of them.

I Rooted Hard For Her Downfall

I am not a fan of characters who cheat on their significant other. Therefore, I automatically didn’t like Margo, but I was open to seeing if she was more than an unfaithful spouse. Some episodes in No Good Deed make me start to like her and think maybe there is a soul beyond all her shallow pursuits.

Margo and Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) bond at one point, and I wondered if that was when we’d see Margo start to change for the better. We quickly see that, once again, her intentions may not be pure. I never grew to like her, but I didn’t start to root for her downfall until around the final few episodes. That is when I could see the full extent of her evil misconduct and decisions. Some characters deserve only terrible things, and Margo is one of them.

Margo Reminds Me Why Linda Cardellini Is Such A Top-Notch Actress

Linda Cardellini is one of those actors who has been around for decades but it feels like people have just started to respect and appreciate her talent. I think No Good Deed will once again remind people of her excellent ability to transform herself. Margo is such an unlikable character that she seems out of Cardellini’s norm.

This makes her even more fun to watch because I can’t recall many other roles where she plays the villain.

No Good Deed is one of Netflix’s most popular shows and a great one to binge-watch, especially to witness an exciting villain like Margo.

Shows like Justified and The Righteous Gemstones may have substantial followings, but Walton Goggins has found that Fallout is its own thing – judging by how often he is now being recognized in public. His performance as the Ghoul in the excellent video game adaptation has very much struck a chord with people, as he recently explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Said Goggins,

Continuing, the actor acknowledged that there was one particular day in recent months when he fully recognized the impact of Fallout. While on a trip abroad with his family, he not only had multiple people come up to him recognizing him from the streaming series, but multiple people from multiple countries:

Given his undead like appearance, The Ghoul on Fallout is perhaps an unlikely target of fan adulation, but one could argue that the love for the character extends from the tremendous work done by Walton Goggins. He is a ruthless sonofabitch, operating as a bounty hunter in a postapocalyptic wasteland, but he has a soul, and one can't help but admire his skill and swagger. In Goggins' words, he is a very complicated guy.

Walton Goggins has expressed fear about reprising his role for Fallout Season 2 and the prospect of returning to the makeup chair, but hopefully his energy will be buoyed by the great public affection for his character. The show has not just inspired pockets of fandom, but earned love from TV viewers around the globe. He told the magazine,

So what exactly is it about The Ghoul on Fallout that makes him so compelling? According to the show's co-creator Geneva Robertson-Dworet, at least part of the love extends from audiences loving to see a character be as skilled and efficient as he is – despite the fact that what he is doing is nasty business. Said the filmmaker,

Following the debut of Fallout Season 1 this past spring, work on Fallout Season 2 is underway with some new additions to the talented cast including Macaulay Culkin. However, it was also mentioned at the time that Hasbro Entertainment was “exploring a new creative direction for the series.” Half a year later, not only has a new rumor surfaced regarding how the franchise is set to return in a big way, we may also know where it will be set up following the collapse of the Netflix plans.

What The Next Power Rangers Projects Are Rumored To Be

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), a new live-action movie and an animated TV show are being developed for the Power Rangers franchise. No additional details were provided in this initial report, but in their own information dump, Super-Jin mentioned that the new movie will have nothing to do with the ‘90s-set reboot that Jonathan Entwistle had been putting together at Netflix. It was also stated that the movie will be a theatrical release, although given how the 2017 Power Rangers movie ended up critically and commercially underperforming, those putting together the next feature will be “cautious” about picking the release date (which may end up being in late 2026) before making the official announcement.

This movie and TV show would certainly do the trick with bringing back these morphenomenal superheroes back to the forefront. I would be especially excited to see the latter, as there’s never been an animated series in the Power Rangers franchise before, and I think it would lend itself well to an anime-style. As for the movie, my main hope is it has better luck than the 2017 reboot did, as that was also intended to revitalize the brand, but culminated in Saban selling the Rangers to Hasbro.

Where The Power Ranges Franchise Is Allegedly Being Set Up Next

So now that Netflix is no longer in the Power Rangers business, where would this movie and TV show be set up? Super-Jin also mentioned in his X post that Paramount and Skydance in final negotiations to obtain the Power Rangers media rights from Hasbro. Ryan Unicomb added in his confirmation of this information that it “sounds like it’s a full buyout of the IP from Hasbro, with Skydance keeping its standing percentage & Paramount becoming the main owner.”

If this is accurate, then that means Paramount Pictures would be releasing this new movie in theaters, and I sincerely hope that the power-that-be do stick to the theatrical plan rather than make it a streaming exclusive. Which brings me to the animated TV show: if Paramount and Skydance gets its hands on Power Rangers, then it stands to reason that this small screen project would become streamable with a Paramount+ subscription. I would also hope that the older TV shows would also become available on that service. Currently most of said shows can be found on Tube, though more recent fare like Power Rangers Dino Fury, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and the 20th anniversary special Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Once & Always are still only accessible with a Netflix subscription.

Rest assured, CinemaBlend will pass along any official announcement regarding what’s next for Power Rangers when it comes in. But if any of the above ends up coming true, I’m hopeful that the franchise will experience a huge resurgence in the latter half of the 2020s.

You can watch Laid now as it joins Peacock’s already strong list of great romantic comedies, but this time in TV form. It stars Stephanie Hsu as Ruby, a woman in her 30s who just wants to find her soulmate. She hasn’t been afraid to date around in a quest to find the one, but that hasn’t been without consequences. Some of them are dire.

Because of my previous experience with Peacock, I went into Laid hopeful that it would be another great new Peacock TV show, and thankfully, it did not disappoint.

I Thought A Premise Like This Might Be Too Dark For A Romantic Comedy, But Laid Changed My Mind

Laid is about all Ruby’s ex-lovers dying. Their deaths are unpredictable, so some are because of freak accidents and others are long illnesses. It’s a very morbid premise and somewhat contradicts the idea of a romantic comedy. Most are lighthearted and stay far away from serious issues, but there isn’t much more serious than death. However, surprisingly, despite Laid’s premise, it never feels dark. Additionally, romantic comedies with dark or morbid premises aren’t uncommon. One of the best movies released in 2020 is Spontaneous, a young adult romantic comedy about teens randomly combusting.

That’s a bleak topic, but Spontaneous is a well-done rom-com/dramedy. Then there are a ton of romantic comedies about serial killers or literal monsters falling in love. So yeah, romantic comedies being a bit morbid is not common, but not completely unusual. The ones with dark topics that work, like Laid, know how to play within the rom-com genre to give the right tone and also stay true to the potential horror aspects of the story. Though the deaths here are approached in a comedic way, you do feel the weight of them. You sympathize with those who have already died and those who could.

The Series Nails The Comedy And Romance Parts

Because this is a romantic comedy, comedy and romance are important to the story. In the pilot, you immediately meet a guy who could become Ruby’s next love interest, but obviously, things become more complicated. Not just because everyone Ruby had sex with is dying, but also just the idea of reintroducing exes into her life and the complications that come with her new love interest.

Stephanie Hsu has great chemistry with this love interest and the exes that you meet throughout Season 1. Having great on-screen chemistry is half the battle of a memorable romantic comedy, so Hsu having it with so many screen partners automatically makes this a strong entry into the romantic comedy TV landscape. It’s definitely not perfect or one of my favorites yet, but I think the first season shows potential.

I think the romance part works but the comedy elements are the series’ strongest weapon. It is very sharp and funny. It knows how to include strategically referential jokes and nail silly ongoing gags, like people consistently not remembering AJ (Zosia Mamet). Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna are the creators of Laid, an adaptation of a 2011 Australian series of the same name. Khan has a long history of writing and directing on hilarious shows and movies, including Fresh Off The Boat, Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Always Be My Maybe, and Totally Killer.

Bradford-McKenna’s past work includes writing and producing on shows like Reboot, Back to You, and Will and Grace. The series creators and showrunners have an extensive background in comedy that has helped make Laid a fun show with the potential for greatness.

Stephanie Hsu Perfectly Captures The Mess That Is Ruby

Hsu is a talented actress, but many didn’t become aware of her brilliance until they saw Everything Everywhere All At Once. This allowed me to recognize her impeccable comedic timing. She rightfully earned her 2023 Academy Award nomination, and that movie was the start of her being brought to the forefront in roles. Since the Academy Award-winning movie, Hsu has been in things such as Joy Ride, Poker Face, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We all know that she is talented, but it’s nice to see her lead movies and TV shows like Joy Ride and Laid.

The series is full of impressive guest appearances by actors you have definitely seen on other TV shows and movies, even if you can’t immediately remember which ones.

The strong cast of supporting actors and guest stars becomes even stronger when acting opposite Hsu. She makes Ruby slightly unlikable but in a way that still endears her to the audience. You hate her at times, and want every woman and man to stay far away, but Hsu's charm allows you to forgive Ruby. You can only hate her for so long before you start to pity or sympathize with her endless quest for pleasure and love.

Additionally, Ruby being such a screw-up is kind of why this show works. If she was a more likable character, it might be hard to watch her go through the agony of seeing so many exes die. However, she’s self-involved enough to frustrate you and make you understand why the universe may be punishing her, even if you wish people didn’t have to die to teach her a lesson. Ruby is the type of mess that only clever shows and great actors can make you like.

Laid Challenges The Idea Of Romantic Comedies But Not In A Judgmental Way

Laid explores the concept of true love and romance, and whether or not the quest for it is healthy. Ruby is a hopeless romantic but not in a cute way. She is in the "she’s kind of losing touch with reality, does some shady things to get it, treat others like crap if they’re not her ideal mate" way.

I don’t think being a hopeless romantic is a bad thing. However, it can become that way if you hold people to unrealistic standards, and only see love as this magical thing, not something with scars, small moments, compromise, and even ugly moments. As stated in the show, the warm/fuzzy, grand moments are great in the beginning but you want eventually to get to the “good okay,” and that’s just as powerful as a grand display of love.

Laid never feels like it’s judging or making fun of romantic comedies or the hopeless romantics who love them. However, it shows flaws in seeing them as the blueprint for every meaningful romantic connection. Even the best romantic comedies can’t compare to a couple who goes through tough times to make it to their 40th anniversary. Declaring your love for someone in front of the paparazzi is great, but it’s even better to wake up next to that person every day to talk about mundane things like breakfast and the weather.

I Found The Main Mystery Very Intriguing

Laid is not just a very entertaining romantic comedy but also an intriguing mystery. I immediately wanted to know what was causing all her exes to die. Can any of them be saved? Is there a way to fix this? Season 1 really sets up an intriguing mystery with the premise and I found myself caring more about the truth behind it all more than the romance and comedy parts. This may be one of Peacock’s best mystery shows as well as one of its best comedies.

Laid's Season 1 Ending Made Me Want Another Season

I can’t say how Laid ends the first season but it does a good job of leaving you wanting more, because I really want to know what happens next. I immediately screamed “Don’t let it end like that!,” once the credits began.

Peacock has been generous with its renewals recently, so I am crossing my fingers that the series gets another season.

Laid is a show you need to check out because I now consider it one of the best TV shows on Peacock. It’s funny, sometimes romantic, and not as disturbing as expected. If you can make a show about death that's not terrifying, then it's worth a stream.

Both were extremely exciting games, but it seems like those with a Netflix subscription were most looking forward to the Texans vs. Ravens game because Texas native Beyoncé was set to perform at halftime. The singer posted a tease for her performance prior to the game to get people even more excited, featuring her playing “Texas Hold ’Em” on the banjo and posing in a big hat. As a joke, her video stopped, and the classic Netflix buffering symbol appeared as a reference to the problems that can happen when streaming. You can see the video from Beyoncé’s Instagram below:

Despite this bit of scary foreshadowing of what could potentially happen when a streamer hosts a major sporting event, things went smoothly. Both games didn’t experience any noticeable technical difficulties. This was great for the streamer and any fans who may have had doubts about the platform’s capabilities for hosting live events with a lot of internet traffic. Fans who were awaiting Beyoncé’s halftime performance also were likely satisfied, as the broadcast looked great and viewers were able to experience the incredible, country-style concert in all its glory.

This felt like a trial run for the streamer, so the broadcast going well may support Netflix’s plan to host even more live events in the future. Other streamers, like Peacock and Hulu, have already expanded into the live event space, with the latter streaming the Oscars for the first time next year. However, many of those platforms already have a Live TV component built in. Netflix doesn’t host Live TV at all, and only seems interested in event media, which makes it unique. I could see this being just the beginning for the streamer, especially considering these NFL games were the first of a three year deal with the football organization.

It seemingly won’t be long before many major sporting events are broadcasted primarily on streaming. I could see even the Super Bowl being a Netflix event sometime in the future. Even though these two games went off without a hitch, the pressure for this to continue is still on. The bigger the game, the bigger the traffic to Netflix’s platform, and sports fans understandably don’t want to miss a second of a great game. Music fans also don’t want to miss a minute of a great halftime performance, especially if it’s a big name like Beyoncé. We’ll just have to wait and see if Netflix is able to continue this great streak of smooth live broadcasts as it expands.

The death of One Direction star Liam Payne was a shock to fans and friends, and while three arrests have been made in the case, that saw Payne fall to his death, there are still many unanswered questions. Investigators are apparently hoping that Payne’s girlfriend at the time of his death, Kate Cassidy, can answer some of those questions, as she’s reportedly returning to Argentina to be interviewed.

The New York Post reports that Cassidy has arranged to fly back to Argentina to speak with investigators. It’s being made clear that Cassidy herself is not suspected of any wrongdoing. There are simply hopes that she may be able to fill in some gaps in what’s known about the events surrounding Payne’s death. According to an unnamed “friend” of Cassidy…

On October 16 Liam Payne took a fatal fall from a third floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. A variety of drugs, including what’s called pink cocaine, were found in his system at the time of the fall. Three people have been charged in connection with Payne’s death, with charges that include supplying drugs as well as “abandonment of a person followed by death” at least one of the people charged was an employee of the hotel at the time.

The couple stayed at the hotel for two weeks prior to the accident, however, Cassidy herself wasn’t even present at the time of the singer’s death. She had left Argentina two days prior to the incident. It’s reported Cassidy was having difficulty dealing with Payne’s drug use likening the circumstances to a “hostage situation.”

It’s unclear what specifically investigators hope Cassidy can shed light on, but the Post reports that one of the men charged, simply called a “drug supplier” is alleged to have sold Payne drugs on two separate occasions on October 14, two days before his fall, and the same day that Cassidy left Argentina.

It seems police hope Kate Cassidy can help fill in blanks in how Payne spent the two weeks at the hotel, and that those answers may help strengthen the legal case against the three people who have been charged. Exactly when this interview will be taking place is unclear. At this point it’s also unclear if other arrests may be forthcoming. It may depend on exactly what Cassidy has to say.

In hindsight, it’s hard to imagine anyone else being considered for the NBC advertisement that led to the inception of the character Ted Lasso. The coach has become a staple in Jason Sudeikis’ career, it led to one of the best shows on Apple TV+, and it helped define the last five years of comedy. However, originally the ad that led to all this was offered to celebrities like Chris Pratt and John Oliver first. So, in a way, we have the Parks and Rec actor and Last Week Tonight host to thank for Ted Lasso.

During Jeremy Egner's interviews for Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, The Show That Kicked Its Way Into Our Hearts, he spoke with the NBC employees tasked with creating an ad for the Premiere League. They were looking for a way to introduce soccer to an American audience, and let’s just say that Jason Sudeikis wasn’t the first person on their mind, as John Miller, the then chief marking officer at NBC Sports, said:

You know, I could totally see this. NBC needed a way to sell soccer to Americans. John Oliver is a beloved British personality who is known for explaining the news in a funny and informative way (watch Last Week Tonight with a Max subscription, and that will be made abundantly clear). To mix my sports metaphors, it felt like a slam dunk. However, schedules got in the way.

So, since the Parks and Rec cast was killing it on NBC around that time and Chris Pratt’s star was rising, they decided to reach out to him. Having an Andy Dwyer-like bit about him learning the rules of football, but getting it confused with American football, again, feels like a slam dunk.

However, Pratt’s film career was blasting off, and he “wasn’t interested,” as Miller said:

He then explained that they considered folks like Ricky Gervais and Seth Meyers too. However they didn’t think Gervais would work out, and at the time, Meyers “was not quite as big as [they] wanted then.”

Finally, they were introduced to the man who would end up taking the job, Jason Sudeikis. Explaining how that ended up happening, Bill Bergofin, who is cited in the book as “the then newish head of marketing for NBC Sports,” said:

Now, that was the real slam dunk!

Eventually, the ad came out in the summer of 2013, on the heels of his final season on Saturday Night Live. He was recognizable, but not the star he is today, and the guys were interested because he’d played a coach character on SNL.

Well, that proved to be a great decision for a lot of reasons.

First of all, at the time of this writing, the YouTube video for this commercial has over 22 million views.

Secondly, and most importantly, it was how the Apple TV+ show was created. Thanks to this NBC ad, we eventually got the show that became a phenomenon, won a whole bunch of Emmys, introduced us all to the wildly talented Ted Lasso cast – which included actors like Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster – and warmed our hearts.

That wouldn’t have happened if John Oliver or Chris Pratt said yes.

So, everybody say thank you to them for saying no and these NBC employees for being down for the idea to hire Jason Sudeikis when you watch or re-watch Ted Lasso with your Apple TV+ subscription. Without all this happening, we probably never would have been able to say “We’re Richmond ‘til we die,” because AFC Richmond probably wouldn’t have existed.

Oh how we’ve missed a Brockman Christmas. Once a staple of the BBC’s festive schedule, it’s been eight long years since we’ve checked in on the tumultuous family’s holiday happenings. But this year they’re back, and there might just be a few more family members in tow, with the promise of one of the children having offspring of their own. This is unlikely to be the last event of the holiday season for the Kardashian clan, but if Kylie Jenner has more outfits like this one in her back pocket, I hope her dance card stays very full.

Why Does The Wellness Room Look Like That?

The first eight minutes of Season 2 are not lacking in tension. Our first image is of Mark waking up at work on the severed floor. However, his innie wastes no time taking off in search of one thing that becomes clear very quickly.

He’s searching for Ms. Casey, the wellness counselor, who was revealed to be his outie’s wife Gemma towards the end of Season 1. Mark S. is frantically searching for this woman because his innie learns at the end of Season 1 that Gemma died in a car crash… or did she?

When Mark S. reaches the wellness room in this sneak peak, we are hoping to find answers there just as much as he is. Unfortunately, the space has been altered so there is nothing in the waiting room besides the two green couches. All the artwork is missing from the walls, and all other decor is also absent. As for the wellness rooms where Ms. Casey would conduct her sessions... well, they don’t exist anymore. In fact, the space where the doors were has been filled in with drywall.

The rest of the preview comes with plenty more shocking details. First off, Mark’s team has been replaced with three new Macro Data Refiners making their debut. We also find out five months has passed since Mark S., Helly R., Irving B., and Dylan G. flipped the Overtime Protocol switch, allowing their Innies to blow the whistle about the ongoings within Lumon’s severed floor. The result has been what Milchick calls “severance reform.”

But I’m still stuck on the wellness office though. If the rest of Mark S.’s team was replaced, why wasn’t Ms. Casey? If you are going through a process of reform, it really doesn’t make sense to get rid of the one feature that was beneficial to your employees’ mental well-being. It wouldn’t make sense to get rid of that space, much less just empty the room while still leaving it eerily recognizable. It’s almost like they are trying to send a message to Mark.

This leads me to wonder about Ms. Casey’s real role on the severed floor, whether she was aware of it or not. Clearly, she was not just there to serve as a therapist of sorts. Not only that, but what has happened to her the last five months?

What Really Happened to Ms. Casey/Gemma?

Like myself, many other fans have speculated for a while that Lumon is experimenting with Ms. Casey. Some Severance theories even say that Gemma really did die, and Ms. Casey is a clone of Mark’s wife. This theory is rooted in the fact that Ms. Casey never leaves Lumon. Instead of going home after her work, she returns to the ominous “testing floor.”

The mystery surrounding Ms. Casey and Gemma is one we hope is answered in Season 2. There is no doubt in my mind that Mrs. Selvig/Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette) is involved. She was the one to send him to Ms. Casey in the first place, always watching carefully via cameras, while also inserting herself into his outtie’s life as his neighbor. I worry for Gemma's fate, though, as the Season 2 trailer features the Boyhood actress' voice saying "Mark, there'll be no honeymoon ending for you."

In the new clip, Milchick chalks up Cobel’s job termination and involvement in Mark’s personal life to an erotic obsession. The new manager also tells Mark that once news broke of the dark events happening to Lumon’s severed workers, the rest of his MDR team refused to return to work, showing Mark S. a newspaper featuring the whistleblower news as evidence. Of course, half the contents of the article are blacked out, meaning one very unsurprising conclusion: Lumon is still lying and hiding things. Shocker!

Needless to say, I don’t believe a word Milchick says in the first eight minutes of the long-awaited new season. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole whistleblower celebration and severance reform is just a ruse, another story to put the severance workers at ease and throw them off pursuing the truth.

If the Season 2 trailer is any indication, it won’t make much of a difference. However, the only way to find out for certain will be to stream the new season January 17th with an Apple TV+ subscription.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have been the talk of the town in recent weeks after their fun rom-com series Nobody Wants This hit the Netflix schedule. Fans have latched onto the quirky premise, about a rabbi dating a sex podcaster; however, what I really feel has made the show most likable is the cast’s rapport and ability to improvise some unlikely scenes. In fact, we previously learned their meet-cute was unscripted, but I was shocked to find out another one of Season 1’s hysterical scenes was not actually written.

A funny side plot in Nobody Wants This Season 1 is that Rabbi Noah is in a recreational basketball league with his boys, and they are flat out terrible. Joanne (Bell) still goes to the games with some of the other wives while trying to get in good with them as the lone shiksa, and it does not go well. That is, until her sister pulls out a bunch of booze in a moment that was never actually written for the series. The full story, per editor Maura Corey?

I have no idea how the player wives and girlfriends were supposed to interact before the drinking montage came about, but it’s a highlight of the season for me, and I'm so glad Corey shared this detail with Indiewire. The guys are so bad at basketball, instead of drinking when they make a shot, they cleverly (or not so much) start drinking and cheering every time their men miss, leading to an excess of alcohol. It’s very funny, and it all came together in the editing room after the entire sequence had been shot.

Previously, showrunner Erin Foster admitted that Adam Brody has no idea how to open a wine bottle in real life. In fact, the party scene in which Noah meets Joanne was supposed to just have him casually opening a bottle of wine. However, he honestly sucked so bad at it while cameras were rolling and he and Bell just went with it, to the point where he even cracked a joke about being a sommelier.

When funny people get together, I expect that to come up with some funny one-liners, but it’s moments like these that really highlight why Nobody Wants This has been such a win for Netflix. It’s refreshing premise, it’s idea to put Bell and Brody together, and it’s otherwise very, very funny cast all make the rom-com sitcom a real win for the streaming service–and unlike many of Netflix’s other more sexually explicit romances, this one’s sex shop jokes are played for humor and not bedroom shenanigans, which means it’s (probably) OK to watch with your mom this holiday season. It’s no wonder Nobody Wants This has already been renewed for Season 2.

Look, I won’t lie, I was minorly irritated when Amazon added ads to its streaming content. I suppose the blatant push for profit on a service I know only exists as an ad-on to Amazon’s Prime shipping piece was not really a huge shock; it was probably coming sometime, but it got worse when Amazon then upped the number of ads and then threw those ads into the middle of some of its original big budget fare. I’m talking like six ads several times in the middle of some of its original programs.

But to be honest, I expect this in the current landscape we’re living in, and given Red One’s low box office returns, maybe it is what the service needs to survive and pay for its upcoming 2025 schedule projects. So whatever, ads are here, and that piece is what it is. If it bothered me that much I could cut the ads by paying an upcharge per month, which is an option. However, that’s not actually the piece that grinds my gears; the worst part is that somehow the streaming service still hasn’t figured out how to deliver a wide variety of ads.

Why Amazon Prime Video’s Ads Make Me Want To Literally Pull My Hair Out

The major problem I have with Amazon is not that it is forcing ads on Prime Video subscribers, it's because those ads have a tendency to be extremely repetitive. For example, during a recent viewing, the “limited interruptions” I saw repetitively were an Amazon ad, a Geico Q&A ad, a Ford Defender ad, a Metro T-mobile ad focusing on Apple products, A Dell AI ad (that I honestly didn’t see coming), and another for Prime Video featuring Martha Stewart.

Then do you know what happened? I saw most of them again, and again and again. To be honest, none of these ads are bad in and of themselves. Some ads in 2024 are still kind of funny, and the Geico one is among them. Plus the Defender ad capably shows its off-road capability, and I can always pretty much get behind Martha Stewart, but there’s nothing more infuriating than seeing the same ads repetitively. And throwing in the occasional new ad but upping the ante to 7 ads in a row instead of six didn't really improve my goodwill at all.

In fact, here’s a shortlist of recent projects on Amazon Prime I’ve been avoiding watching simply because I’d prefer a streaming service with less repetitive ads. (Or, you know, no ads.)

I don’t want to sit here and tout the benefits of cable, because the way cable worked for a long time didn’t make sense. Loyal customers who stuck with services for years were nickel and dimed and continually upcharged for packages. (And now the same thing is happening with costs on streamers like YouTube TV.) Meanwhile we got more channels we didn’t want and more ads per hour as the years went by. This system sucked. I see why people wanted to disrupt it. The one place where cable is superior though is that it has figured out how to sell a wide variety of (often) high-quality ads.

Look, I get it. Other streaming services with ads have a similar problem. A lack of ad variety is a consistent problem on platforms like Hulu, and I think I could probably write a similar story with a few other streaming platforms in mind.

Still, given how much Amazon has upped its ads compared to other services, and given how repetitive its ad stack is, it’s enough that Santa maybe should have put the service on the naughty list.

While former prisoners often mention turkey and ham as popular prison meals, more recently cornish hen seems to be a choice protein for prisons over the Christmas holiday. In fact, last year, former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar, who is in prison after being found guilty of, also was served cornish hen for dinner. In addition to the hen, prisoners at MDC will receive accoutrements and a later dinner of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

This isn’t the first holiday he will spend behind bars. Diddy was also in the detention center during Thanksgiving. For that holiday, he had food options including Turkey roast or tofu. In that instance, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, gravy, rolls and more were also available.

Diddy’s prison stay has not been for the faint of heart. His lawyers have actually said food is a problem for the rapper behind bars. And others have called MDC, where he is housed, ‘probably the worst federal detention center in the country.’ Diddy’s trial, in which he is facing charges of sex trafficking by force, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution and a third charge about conspiracy to commit racketeering, begins on May 5th, and could spend life in prison if convicted. He is also facing more than a dozen lawsuits outside of the federal case.

It’s a strange little movie that starts off with the idea that Walt Disney’s audio-animatronics eventually gave rise to sentient robots and that those robots eventually went to war with humans. One of the key robot characters in the film will be an animatronic Mr. Peanut. And while that’s wild enough, Joe Russo tells EW that Mr. Peanut will be “the Jimmy Carter” of the robots. He said…

It’s unclear if the joke of making a connection between Mr. Peanut, a sentient peanut, and Jimmy Carter, a peanut farmer, is intentional, but I am absolutely here for it. Honestly, considering the work that the Russo Bros. went through to get the rights to use Mr. Peanut as a character, it would make sense if this connection was entirely intentional. They could have used any advertising character, or used an original creation, but they clearly wanted Mr. Peanut.

The other reason what we know about The Electric State makes it interesting film is that while it takes place in a world where a war between robots and humans happened, it’s not actually about the war. The movie is set after the war has already been won, by humanity.

Chris Pratt plays a former fighter in the war dealing with his own issues, who agrees to help Millie Bobby Brown, who believes her brother died in the war, but learns he is still alive and in need of rescue. This will send them into the Exclusion Zone referenced by Joe Russo, that will put them in contact with Mr. Peanut, and other robots.

Pretty soon the Russo Brothers will be back working with Marvel on the two planned Avengers movies, and Chris Pratt may be back there too. Until then, we’ll get to see a very different sort of adventure from them which may not be the best movie of next year but it is shaping up to be one of the strangest and I can’t wait for it.

The NFL makes its Netflix debut on Christmas Day with a pair of live broadcasts. The Chiefs and Steelers kick off at 1 pm ET and the Ravens and Texans follow at 4:30 pm ET. In addition to the games, music will be on offer as Mariah Carey will have a new version of her hit “All I Want For Christmas” aired and Beyonce will perform during halftime of the Ravens/Texans game.

Once Christmas is over Netflix will offer a somewhat sobering alternative to all the joy and fun with the long-awaited Season 2 of Squid Game. The show’s first season was one of the main reasons to have a Netflix subscription and so we can bet fans won’t be waiting a day to start the new season.

Next week 2025 starts off, whether we like it or not. We can only hope the new year will continue to provide so much great streaming content.

The newest Witcher book confirms the year that Geralt of Rivia was born, which, would make him about 38 years old when he first meets Yennifer of Vengerberg. Of course the thing that really has fans blown away is that by this date, Yennifer herself was quite a bit older when the two first met.

The Age Gap Between Geralt and Yennifer Is Bigger Than Most Fans Guessed, And In The Wrong Direction

The Witcher stories take place over decades, but considering that Geralt of Rivia is a mutant Witcher and Yennifer of Vengerberg is a wizard, it’s essentially impossible to gauge either of their ages based solely on how they look. It turns out that when Geralt and Yennifer first met, Geralt was 38, and Yennifer was twice that age, as she’s 38 years older than he is.

While it seems all the Witcher fans on Reddit had different estimations for just how old the various characters were, many seemed to guess that, if anything Geralt was a lot older than he actually is. The fact that Yennifer is so much older than Geralt, as a lot of fans making jokes about the Witcher and older women.

Some fans thought Geralt was a lot older than he apparently is. Others at least assumed that Yennifer wasn't quite as old as she is. In the books it's well established that wizards can halt their aging, so it's impossible to guess how old one actually is.

The Netflix Series Flipped The Ages

Since The original novels had not previously set a date for Geralt’s birth, the various adaptations of the work had to make their own determinations. As a result, the Netflix series inverted the chronology almost exactly, as Geralt is 32 years older than Yennifer in the series. The popular video game series essentially has them the same age, with Geralt just a year older than Yenn.

Of course, the ages aren't the only difference between the source material and the series. The Netflix Witcher has been criticized previously for the way it differs from the books.

Things will get even more confusing when The Witcher Season 4 debuts next year. Liam Hemsworth who is taking on the role of Geralt, is seven years younger than Henry Cavill, who played the role for the show’s first three years.

As we wait for The Kardashians to hopefully return with Season 6 on the 2025 TV schedule, Kim Kardashian made an amusing nod to the Paper Magazine shoot from a decade past. The budding actress balanced a martini on her butt shelf, proving she’s still got it, as she rocked a revealing dark red leather dress for her annual SKIMS holiday party. The floor-length dress was dangerously low-cut and featured side cutouts, as well as a corset-like detail along the front. It may be cold outside, but Kim Kardashian was red hot as she gave Sydney Sweeney a run for her money in terms of the perfect red dress. Arm-in-arm with her black-clad sister Khloé Kardashian and momager Kris Jenner in all white, Kim was still sporting a boot after breaking her foot earlier in December.

You have to love the Paper Mag shout-out, especially since last month was the 10-year anniversary of when she originally broke the Internet with the spread that included her balancing a drink on her rear.

In case you think the whole “break the Internet” thing is hyperbole, Bustle reports that back in 2014, the magazine’s website traffic measured nearly 1% of all U.S. web browsing activity the day after its winter edition dropped, thanks in large part to Kim Kardashian’s bare-butt cover photo.

Kim Kardashian took aim at her critics back then (doesn’t she always?) as she celebrated the attention garnered by the photoshoot by tweeting:

You’re doing amazing, sweetie. A decade later, Kim Kardashian is still discovering new talents to flaunt to the public, and 2025 should feature quite a bit of the reality star on our screens. In addition to starring in the new Ryan Murphy legal drama All’s Fair, which will be available to stream with a Hulu subscription, could we also see her on the 2025 movie calendar?

The reality star previously signed on to executive produce and star in two movies — a comedy The 5th Wheel from Paula Pell and Janine Brito and an untitled thriller written by Natalie Krinsky. Hopefully those projects won’t come at the expense of her family’s Hulu show or at the expense of great moments of fashion (and talent!) like the one above.

While we wait for news regarding the next installment(s) of The Kardashians, the first five seasons are available to stream on Hulu.

The report alleges that 41-year-old Cheryl Tweedy is making a profound effort to make the holidays special for her son. A source told DailyMail that a number of family members will be involved as well, with the late One Direction alum’s relatives paying visits to see young Bear. While speaking with the news outlet, the insider also alleged that this period of time hasn’t been easy on Tweedy or her son, but it seems she’s pushing through her grief:

According to DailyMail, Liam Payne would reportedly prioritize spending time with his son on Christmas, regardless of what his work obligations were. The “Naughty List” singer would allegedly enjoy a meal and excitedly open gifts. While sharing purported details, the insider further emphasized the new reality that Payne’s child will be facing moving forward:

It was on October 16 that the “For You” singer died at the CasaSur Palermo hotel. Leading up to that, the star had allegedly been acting erratically, with hotel onlookers claiming he appeared as such while in the lobby. Employees reportedly escorted him back up to his room, despite his apparent threats of jumping from the balcony. According to a toxicology report, the 1D alum – who’d long contended with substance abuse – had benzodiazepine, crack cocaine and pink cocaine in his system at the time of his death. The investigation into the singer’s death is ongoing and five people of interest are being analyzed.

Following Liam Payne’s death, a number of his friends and fellow music industry veterans have been paying tribute to him. His former One Direction bandmates initially issued a joint statement, before they shared individual tributes. Simon Cowell also honored Payne with a sweet message. Shawn Mendes even paid tribute to the late singer during a concert.

All in all, it’s more than evident that the songwriter will be missed by those who knew him, and that’s surely true of Cheryl Tweedy and Bear. One hopes that the two will find comfort as they continue to navigate their first holiday season without the “Sunshine” singer.
